The European project 'Soundroutes. Notes to get closer', launches the Soundroutes Booking Agency, an initiative dedicated to the professional integration of migrant and refugee musicians.
The Soundroutes project, which is financed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission in the framework of the 'Creative Europe programme', in 13 months of activities has given to dozens of migrant and refugee musicians the opportunity to perform with local artists in close relationship with the hosting communities, in more than 30 events in Spain, Italy, Germany and Belgium. In addition, as an international band was selected through an open call for musicians, a co-creation process has started and will end up this autumn with two premier concerts during the Berliner Werkstatt Der Kulturen and the Bologna Jazz Festival.
“We are starting with a roster of 22 musicians but we have built so many relationships with artists
in the four countries that the initiative will grow up quickly in the next weeks.
Any other musician recently arrived in Europe is welcome to join the initiative”, said Ivan Pivotti,
the CEO of Marmaduke the Seville based cultural company leading the project.
The other Soundroutes partners are Bologna Jazz Festival, Italy,
Brauerei Wissmannstraße e.V. – Werkstatt der Kulturen, Germany,
the Italian NGO Un Ponte Per…
and the cultural association Vzw De Vergunning, Belgium.
