“Aleksandër Xhuvani” University of Elbasan dates back to the year of 1909. At the moment University of Elbasan (UE) numbers about 13,270 students and 240 full time academic staff. There are five faculties in the UE: Faculty of Human Sciences, (FHS), Faculty of Natural Sciences, (FNS), Faculty of Education Sciences, (FES), Faculty of Economy (FE), Faculty of Medical and Technical Sciences (FMTS). The strongest quality points of our university are the quality formation of new teachers and professional development of in-service teachers, a digitalized University Library, part of an online network including the National Library and other universities libraries in and outside the country – and, finally, the doctoral program in the field of Albanology.
The Faculty of Education Sciences and Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences have different departments and each one has Department for Research. In particular, the Faculty of Education Sciences, (FES), carries out functions related to teaching and research about social change measures and services for the well-being of population, in different areas of intervention and territorial levels (analysis of social development; social inclusion, etc.). The Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences (FMTS) is a new faculty (since 2001) with three departments and one research center, The Environment and Diagnosing Research and Development Center. Its members work in different national and international projects reflecting their research interests.
The students of Social Sciences and Medicine Department will be engaged in this research, mainly in the organization of open dialogues with high school students of Elbasan region and during the Forum Theater and international festival. So far, for the Atlas of Transitions project, and due to the inter-disciplinary approach required by the project, two Departments are going to be involved.
RESEARCH TEAM
Zamira Cabiri, Ph.D
Zamira Cabiri is Lector Ph.D at A. Xhuvani University Elbasan, in the Faculty of Medical and Technical Sciences (FMTS), at the Department of Research and Development Center Diagnostic Environment. Her research concerns Knowledge, Attitudes and Needs for Family Planning Methods in the prefecture of Elbasan. She took part as coordinator and member of the scientific team and conducted several research projects about integration of Roma community, gender equality, women’s participation in local decision making processes, community assessment for local government, social inclusion.

Role in the research project
Together with the Albanian partners, Tjeter Vizion and Alternative theater A.T.K., the team will be engaged in:
– Intercultural and multidisciplinary workshops and artistic production with non-professional teenagers;
– Organizing a 24 open dialogue workshops in six high schools in the Elbasan area;
– Video documentary production;
– Organizing a participatory theatre workshop with final performance led by an artist of the project partnership;
– Final performance staging eight times as result of the participatory theatre workshop.
